Customer project: Arlinger Tunnel noise barrier

At regular intervals, we report here on particularly successful projects from our customers around the world. After taking a look at the UK last time, we are now returning to Germany. This summer, our partner GGS Terracon from Moritzburg erected a noise barrier with our products on the western tangent of the B463 motorway in Pforzheim, specifically at the Arlinger Tunnel. The client was ‘Reif Bauunternehmung’ from Rastatt.

Our innovative ‘SilentR’ noise protection system with an internal concrete core was once again used here. The ‘monotecR’ eyelet grids with a wire diameter of 5.0 mm were partially designed with particularly narrow meshes. In addition, specially customised trapezoidal gabions were used at the bends in the wall, which were first drawn in our design department and then manufactured in our in-house special construction department. This made it possible to cater for the special features of the construction site and ensure a precise structure.

The total volume of the noise barrier is over 800m³. Six layers in graduated widths bring the height of the structure to six metres. The side facing the noise was filled with open-pored lava to maximise sound absorption, while the side facing away from the noise was filled with a regional natural stone. An impressive project for which we would like to congratulate our partner GGS and thank them for their excellent cooperation.
